Harvest Festival in Las Trampas, 12x16 oil
Springtime Bloom
Fall Colors, 12x9 oil | Class Description: Embracing Shadow: Painting the Poetry of Light Light is elusive — shifting by the minute, transforming color, softening edges, and redefining form. For many artists, it can feel impossible to capture. In this immersive one-day outdoor workshop, we’ll explore how to paint light not by chasing brightness alone, but by understanding and embracing shadow. Together, we’ll examine how contrast, value relationships, and temperature shifts create the illusion of luminosity. You’ll learn how darkness gives light its power — how depth, atmosphere, and mood are built through thoughtful observation and bold simplification. Through demonstration and guided painting time, we’ll focus on:
This workshop is designed for painters who want to deepen their understanding of light and bring greater drama and subtlety to their work. Whether you work in oils, acrylic, or watercolor, you’ll leave with practical tools — and a fresh way of seeing — that will transform how you approach painting outdoors. Her work has garnered significant national recognition, including being featured on the January 2020 cover of PleinAir Magazine, accompanied by a dedicated eight-page article. Michele has earned numerous plein air and studio awards and is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society and the Plein Air Artists of New Mexico.
