    I am thrilled to announce I will be teaching an oil painting class on Tuesdays 1 -4pm, April 9-May 28 at the New Mexico Art League.

    In the eyes of the Masters:
    Build a Portrait Frida Kahlo-Style with Gouache | One Day 4-Hour Workshop | Saturday February 24th, 2024 | 12:00pm-4:00pm | $80 + tax at Artisan Santa Fe

    Frida Kahlo’s self-portraits were filled with symbolism. In this class you will build a portrait using a photo of yourself, a friend, or a pet. Symbolic images will be available as reference, or you can bring your own.

    Learn how Gouache has the vibrancy of watercolor and the forgiveness of acrylics. No experience required. Your result will be a fun, stylized portrait reminiscent of Frida Kahlo’s unique style!

    Two Day Workshop | Friday January 26th & Saturday January 27th, 2024 | 1:00pm-4:30pm BOTH DAYS | $140 + tax at Artisans Santa Fe

    On day one you will learn 9 secrets in mark making, creating shapes, and adding colors. You will experiment with artist tools and regular household items to make subtle and dramatic marks. Choose to work in all neutral or multi colors.

    On day two you can learn how to add gold, silver, or copper metal leaf or Iridescent acrylic. Take home your original abstract work of art to brighten your interior space with the unexpected.

    INSTRUCTOR: Stephanie West works in a variety of mediums and styles. You will often find her teaching or painting outdoors with her best friend Wendy Ahlm. Her work represents her drive to capture the essence of place and time, often to tell a story or create a talisman.
