Winslow, Arizona is best known for Standin’ on the Corner Park, where visitors step into the Eagles’ lyric beside a bronze guitarist and a two-story mural. Part sculpture, part stage set, and part pilgrimage site, it draws more than 100,000 visitors a year.

Winslow is also known for La Posada Hotel, the last great Harvey House, restored as a blend of Southwestern architecture, art, gardens, and railroad history. With trains passing just outside and Tina Mion’s artwork inside, it feels like a living Route 66 museum.

Winslow also has a strong Route 66 district along the old alignment, with vintage motels, neon, trading posts, cafés, and roadside landmarks. From the Minnetonka Trading Post to old Whiting Bros. stations and the restored Valentine Diner, it offers a compact stretch of historic storefronts and small-town character.

Just east of Winslow, Petrified Forest National Park and nearby Holbrook offer some of Route 66’s best plein-air opportunities. The Painted Desert’s banded mesas shift color through the day, while Blue Mesa’s sculpted hills and petrified logs create striking, abstract compositions. Holbrook adds classic Americana with neon motels, Wigwam Village teepees, trading posts, and weathered railroad scenes. Together, the park and town pair ancient landscape drama with Route 66 character.
