A short, 400-foot trail allows access to a stunning overlook of this wetland along the Rio Grande. Oxbow is home to a variety of species such as birds, reptiles, beaver and muskrat. There is no access to the wetland itself, and observation is limited to the area behind the wooden log fence. However, there is a nice, unobstructed view at the north end of the fence line, directly left as you enter through an opening by the parking lot. Mornings and late afternoons are both good times to paint here.

Meet at 8 a.m. Sunday Oct. 13, 2013. There is no fee.

DIRECTIONS:

From north Albuquerque, take I-25 and exit at Montogomery/Montano. Drive west on Montano to Coors Blvd. Turn left (south) on Coors and follow south two lights to Namaste/Atrisco Road and turn left (east). Namaste Road dead ends into the parking lot.

From I-40 in Albuquerque, exit at Coors Blvd. (exit 155) and head north. After two miles, turn east on Namaste Road. Namaste Road dead ends into the parking lot.
