A sign in front of St. Francis de Paula Church commemorates the: Battle of Cerro Redondo Monument. The church was established in 1869 and is in the middle of the village of Tularosa on Hwy 70/54.

Round Mountain is the site of the 1868 battle between the Mescalero Apaches and Company H, 3rd US Cavalry assisted by Tularoseños fighting to save their homes. The cross atop Round Mountain (Cerro Redondo) commemorates this battle. (Round Mountain is on HWY 70 close to the Apache Reservation)

The village of Tularosa shares its name with the Tularosa Basin, in which the village is located. To the east, Tularosa is flanked by the western edge of the Sacramento Mountains. The village is north of Alamogordo, New Mexico on Highway 70/54.

Meet at 8:30 Saturday, September 3 in the church parking lot or on the grounds.
