"The Light, it's always about the light" an exhibition of Northern
New Mexico plein air landscape paintings by Frederick Hubicki will
be on display at the Purple Sage Gallery in Old Town, Albuquerque
starting May 10. Hubicki has found while hiking and painting in the
Jemez and other mountainous regions of New Mexico that the light
often reveals things at first not seen. It will distort or hide vistas as
well. Colors will often become more intense or turn more subtle due
to the light. The seasons and time-of-day are also factors and can
change the mood of a scene while painting in the open air (plein air).
When the weather is extreme is often when painting is best - extreme painting - if you will.
